This policy explains which cookies and similar technologies vicxelcode.com uses, what they are for and how you can control them. The short version: the Site does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser to remember information between visits or during a single session. There are other storage technologies, such as the browser’s local storage (localStorage), that serve a similar purpose and to which this policy also applies.
Depending on who manages them, cookies can be first-party (set by the site you are visiting) or third-party (set by another domain, for example when an embedded map is loaded). Depending on their duration, they can be session cookies (deleted when you close the browser) or persistent cookies (kept for a set period).
2. First-party cookies
The Site sets two first-party cookies, both strictly technical. As they are necessary to provide the service you request, they do not require your consent (Article 22.2 of the LSSI-CE):
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| NEXT_LOCALE | Remembers the language you chose in the language switcher so the Site is shown in that language on the following pages. | Session (deleted when you close the browser) | First-party, technical |
| vicxel_logged_in | Only signals that you are signed in to the Vicxel panel, so the Site offers you the dashboard directly instead of the sign-in form. It holds no personal data and does not identify who you are. | As long as your panel session lasts, or up to five years if you tick “Remember me”. Deleted when you sign out. | First-party, technical (only if you use the panel) |
3. Browser local storage
In addition to the cookie above, the Site may store the following information in your browser’s local storage (localStorage). This data is not sent to our servers on its own, it stays only on your device, and you can delete it at any time from your browser settings:
| Key | Purpose | Duration | When it is stored |
|---|---|---|---|
| vxc_comment_author, vxc_comment_email | Remember your name and email to fill them in automatically the next time you comment on the blog. | Until you delete it or post a comment with the box unticked | Only if you tick the “Save my name and email in this browser” box when commenting. |
| vxc_admin_token | Keep the comment moderation panel session open. | Until you log out | Only for Vicxelcode staff who log in to the admin panel. |
4. Third-party cookies
The contact page includes an embedded Google Maps map. When it loads, Google may set its own cookies from its domains (for example NID or CONSENT) for the map to work and for the purposes described in its cookie policy. Vicxelcode does not control those cookies or access the information they collect. These cookies are only set if you visit the contact page.
There are no other third-party services on the Site: we do not use Google Analytics or any other measurement tool, social media pixels or advertising networks. Fonts are served from our own domain, with no connection to Google Fonts.
5. How to manage cookies
You can allow, block or delete cookies and local storage from your browser settings. Note that if you block the technical language cookie, the Site will detect your preferred language again on each visit from your browser settings. Instructions for the most common browsers:
6. Changes to this policy
If we add new cookies or third-party services, we will update this page and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent before setting them. The date of the last revision appears at the top of the document. For any questions, write to us at hi@vicxelcode.com.
